SOUTH PORTLAND – Republican Gubernatorial candidate Peter Cianchette announced today his plans to attend the Piscataquis Valley Fair on Saturday, August 27, 2005 with State Senator Paul Davis (R- Sangerville). Cianchette plans to make the visit as part of an effort to meet with area residents and fair-goers and discuss his campaign for Governor and listen to the concerns of Maine citizens. As part of an effort to highlight his candidacy’s growing support, Peter Cianchette made the following statement,

“I am proud to have the backing and support of Senator Paul Davis. As my campaign gears up for our official kick-off early this fall, I have already enlisted support from people all over Maine who, like me, believe in and look forward to a more hopeful and prosperous Maine. I have spoken with leaders of our state’s political, business, civic, government, small-business, medical, and education communities who have urged me to pick up where we left off in 2002, and finish what we started. To that end, I will fight for equitable funding on education and economic stimulus that will help rural communities like those in the Piscataquis County region continue down the path of growth and development. By expanding existing businesses, creating employment opportunities, saving existing jobs, and investing in community development projects, our rural Maine communities can do better, and Maine can do better.
