DOVER-FOXCROFT - It's time for the Piscataquis Valley Fair! The gate fee is $6 per adult; $2 per child 5-10; and children under 5 get in free. Friday, Aug 27 is Senior Citizens Day with $3 admission. A separate wristband purchase covers unlimited rides provided by Smokey's Greater Shows. Midway rides open at 2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Thursday's highlights include a 5 p.m. car show and cruise in; music by Deja Blue Band at 7:30 and firworks at 9 p.m. On Friday, there will be a 12:30 p.m. magic show and 3:30 p.m. balloon animals on the hill near the fair office. There's a he-man contest in the horse pulling area at 8:15. Civil Disturbance takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, there's an Equitation Horse Show; a 10 a.m. antique auto display; and kids cookie decorating at the dining hall from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be karaoke on stage at 10 a.m. The skillet throw begins at 11:30 a.m. at the horsepulling ring. At 1 p.m. there will be an ATV obstacle course. The magic show reappears at 2 p.m., with balloon animals at 6 p.m. There will be 6 p.m. Street Truck Pulls and a wrist wrestling contest. The Rhoads Band takes the stage at 4 p.m.; Midnight Rose performs at 6:30 p.m.; and Roy Hudson Band begins at 8 p.m. There are several horse pulling events scheduled for Sunday, as well as a 10 a.m. doodlebug draw. Sign up for the 1 p.m.pig scramble runs from 10 a.m. to noon. The chicken barbeque begins at 11 a.m. Fishers of Men will play beginning at 11 a.m. There's a demolition derby at 2 p.m. The kids get one last chance to see magic at 1:30 p.m. and balloon animals at 4:15 p.m. Bingo begins at noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Exhibit halls and Animal Land are open daily, as is the Fire Department Museum. Pedal tractor pulls are scheduled for all four days, as is a drawing for a free bike.
