- Drivers must be 16 years of age with parental permission.
- ALL CARS MUST BE AT FAIRGROUNDS BY NOON. CARS AFTER NOON MAY NOT BE PERMITTED TO RUN.
- Drivers must have long sleeved shirts, long pants, helmet, and eye protection.
- Driver must wear sneakers or boots, NO sandals or open toed shoes. Safety belt or harness must be worn.
- Only drivers and their mechanics will be permitted in the pit area or on the track.
- All vehicles are asked (but not required) to have a the following: fire extinguisher, windshield, driver's cage (in driver's compartment only), plated drivers door (not to exceed more than one foot past door seams), driver's door panel, and stock dash pad.
- Back seat and all carpeting must be removed.
- Big cars must have fuel tank located in front of rear axle; a boat tank is preferred. Also have battery located in passenger compartment mounted solid and covered.
- Small car is 4 cylinder only.
- Small cars are permitted to have stock fuel tank and battery location.
- Trailer hitches including hitch brackets must be removed.
- Radiator may be bypassed but must remain in stock position.
- NO antifreeze, WATER ONLY.
- Fan blade must be clutch type or electric fan which may be of any make or model.
- Car must be of stock appearance with doors welded on chained.
- DO NOT weld or bolt hood or trunk (use wire to secure them).
- Car must have a 1 foot square hole in the hood.
- NO strengthening of cars or modifications to suspension will be permitted. Cars that have already been in a derby may have reattached bumpers with a reasonable amount of weld (no more than 4 one inch welds).
- All drivers must attend the drivers meeting to be held 45 minutes prior to the start of Derby.
- No snow tires, drive wheels.
- Wheel weights must be removed.
- Fiberglass noses and tails must be removed due to the fact that they get stuck in the track and tip it up.
- Outside mirrors and antennas must be removed.
- NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED.
- Any driver or crew member not obeying the rules will be disqualified.
- Drivers are responsible for the conduct of their crew members.
- Vehicle must have working brakes. Window net is preferred. Door bar. All side glass MUST either be removed or rolled down (the less glass the better). As a service to the participants, Piscataquis Valley Fair Association will purchase any unwanted demo car after the Derby for $25.
