Dave Mallett in Concert
Thursday, August 21, 2008, 7 pm Known as "the voice of New England," Dave Mallett's talent for combining compelling lyrics and beautifully crafted melodies caught the attention of producer Noel Paul Stookey (Peter, Paul and Mary), and in 1978 he recorded the first of nine albums to date of original material.
His songs have been performed by over 150 artists, including Emmylou Harris, Pete Seeger, Peter, Paul and Mary, John Denver, Hal Ketchum, Arlo Guthrie and even the Muppets.
Life in rural America is Mallett's hallmark. Some of his most requested songs were inspired by his childhood on the family farm in Maine.
"The Haying Song" recalls long, hot days pitching hay, making sure it was "dry when you put it away."
The devastating lightning strike that destroyed the family farm when he was a child is recalled in "Fire," and "April" is a paean
to Spring as only those who come from a cold climate can truly appreciate.

A CD that Ken recorded, as lead vocalist with Union River Band, received a "Highlight Review" in the April 2002 edition of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine published in Broad Run, Virginia. No other New England band had ever received a "Highlight Review" in that magazine's forty year history. Ken's recordings have received radio air-play throughout the U.S., Canada and many foreign countries. He is considered an "archivist" by professional recording and touring musician Patricia Buie for his accurate and extensive renditions of classic acoustic roots music.
Jane plays bass and sings lead and harmony vocals. She was first introduced to bluegrass and acoustic music when she and Ken were married. On occasion she would perform a few songs and recitations with Ken and his band, which included Bluegrass Supply Company, and Union River Band. During a time when Ken was not playing in a band Jane learned to play the bass and continued singing to accompany Ken's varied styles of music. Jane also performed as a member of Fox Hollow. She and Ken have been performing as a duet act since 2004.
Ken and Jane are available for private parties, company functions, house concerts, stage concerts, festivals and fairs. Ken is also available for solo performaces.

Saturday, August 23, 2008, 8 pm In the years following, Curtis performed in bluegrass bands throughout New England then moved to Nashville in 1988. Since his move to Music City, the singer/songwriter/musician has performed in bands of his own and has also earned a reputation as a skilled dobro and steel guitarist, performing with artists such as: Holly Dunn, Becky Hobbs, Johnny Paycheck, Connie Smith, The Reno Brothers, Del Reeves, Loretta Lynn and most recently Charlie Louvin. Curtis' career is still evolving, but he enjoys looking back on his many successes, counting his six-year tour with Loretta Lynn and a recent tour with Charlie Louvin as career highlights. "Loretta and Charlie were influences of mine growing up, so it was certainly an honor to be on the road with them." Perely is now focusing on his own solo career. He is in the planning stages for a new duet CD with Erin Hay and is looking forward to finishing it. Rest assured, it will be traditional country music. "It has always been my desire to be an artist. I've performed all over the world as a dobro and steel guitar player for other artists. Now I'd like to shine."
